Ryan Reynolds didn't tell his wife, Blake Lively, after he spent millions buying Wrexham AFC back in November 2020.

The Deadpool star revealed that he tried to keep the hefty purchase a secret from Lively after making the major financial move without her.

After forking out a fortune on the football team, without any consultation from his partner, it's clear that the couple are still 'working through' the ordeal.

Reynolds bought Wrexham FC with fellow actor, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, a few years back after revealing their interest in the team.

Since the moment the two stars announced their new venture, fans haven't stopped talking about the unlikely - but very welcomed nonetheless - crossover between the pair of Hollywood's finest and the Welsh club.

And, according to Reynolds, the decision came as such a surprise that he didn't even have time to properly talk it over with Lively.

The A-lister appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live last August and revealed that he spent a staggering $2.75 million (approximately £2.2 million) on the football team behind his wife’s back.

Recalling the conversation he had at the time, Reynolds remembers jokingly telling his partner: "I have bad news and I have really bad news."

What an opener.

He continued: "The bad news is I slipped into someone’s [direct messages] again. The really bad news is I might have bought half of a fifth-tier national football league in Wales."

No surprise that Lively was well and truly shocked after finding out that her hubby had blown nearly three million on the bold financial decision.

"We’re still working through that one," Reynolds revealed.

However, since then, it's clear that the Gossip Girl star has got on board with the antics after the pair have bought a brand-new home, which is rumoured to be just a five-mile drive from Wrexham's FC's home turf, The Racecourse.

Definitely nowhere near to the glitz and glamour of La La Land, the quaint village of Marford has just two pubs - the Red Lion and the Trevor Arms - alongside a Co-op.

Wrexham FC also recently just celebrated an exciting promotion last week (22 April) and will now be playing in the football league for the first time15 years.

Not too shabby at all.

Reynolds FaceTimed Lively last night, as Wrexham fans celebrated their club's promotion, and it's fair to say that she was proper chuffed with the news.
