Sarina Wiegman has received a lot of attention at the Women’s Euros 2022 as the coach who could bring England’s Lionesses to victory.
The former professional footballer turned manager took on the role as England’s head coach in September 2021, having previously won her national team of the Netherlands the main trophy at the Women’s Euros in 2017.
Sarina was born in The Hague, Netherlands in 1969, making her currently 52-years-old. Taking a keen interest in sport, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the US, where she was part of their women’s football team.

After returning to the Netherlands, she had a successful career as a player for both the national team and the women’s Ter Leede team, as well as working as a PE teacher, before retiring from playing professionally in 2003 and moving into coaching.

Is Sarina Wiegman married?
Sarina Wiegman is married to Marten Glotzbach and the couple have been together for over twenty years. Like his wife, Sarina’s husband Marten is also involved in sport, having worked for twenty years as a trainer and coach with various football associations in and around The Hague and Westland in the couple’s home country of The Netherlands.

He gained a degree in Marketing in 1994 and trained as a football coach at the KNVB (or the Royal Dutch Football Association in English). He’s also worked for the organisation as a teacher in his later career. Receiving a Bachelor of Education degree in 2009, Marten also works as an Economics teacher and football coach at a secondary school in The Hague area.
Does Sarina Wiegman have any children?
Sarina and her husband Marten have two daughters called Sacha and Lauren. Like their parents, both women are interested in football, with Lauren playing for the youth ADO Den Haag team and Sacha playing for Sports Club Monster.
Posting a photo of herself with her husband, two daughters and pet dog at Christmas 2020, Sarina wrote: “What a year... living differently, working differently, no fans in the stadiums.
