Adam Sandler was forced to explain what happened to him after appearing on TV with a black eye, sheepishly admitted that there was ‘nothing cool’ about the reason. Watch below:

Michael Strahan began the segment by saying to the star: “You look like you’ve got a little rough...”
Sandler replied with a smile: “This is something I have to discuss right?
“I was in bed, middle of the night, you know how they tuck in your sheets, somebody tucked in the sheets too much.
“I had my phone in the middle of the bed. I kick my feet up, untuck it. The phone went flying and it hit me in the head.”

As the room began to laugh, Sandler continued: “I refused to acknowledge it. I felt blood. I said something's going on but I got to sleep. Kept sleeping. Woke up and then I said...”
Host George Stephanopoulos then cut in: “That is the most elaborate black eye story I ever heard.”
Agreeing, Sandler said: “There's nothing cool about this.

“It looks so cool. When I'm on the streets of New York, I see people going ‘Oh, okay. He likes to fight, that guy.’
“And I'm like, it was a bed accident.”
Sandler's latest film Hustle sees him play a down-on-his-luck of luck basketball scout, who stumbles across an uber-talented player while on holiday.
Hustle will be available to stream from tomorrow (8 June), with the Jeremiah Zagar-directed, Lebron James-produced movie seeing Sandler play a washed-up NBA scout looking for his ticket back to the big league.

During a trip to Spain, Stanley Sugarman (Sandler) sets his sights on ball player Bo Cruz (portrayed by real life Utah Jazz forward Juancho Hernangómez), but before the pair can make it big in the NBA, they must overcome their own personal demons.
Ahead of the film's release, it's already been lauded by the lucky few who have seen it as being on par with Sandler's hugely popular, and incredibly tense previous drama Uncut Gems, which sits proudly with a 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Many are even calling for Sandler to receive his first Oscar nomination for his role.
