Actor Anne Hathaway has revealed that she hates it when people call her Anne, which is a little confusing to say the least.
Considering it's listed as her actual name, you might be wondering what she'd rather be called instead. Bridgette, perhaps? Or how about Tiffany? Or maybe she'd like a funny nickname like A-Dog.
The 40-year-old Hollywood star opened up about her reasoning in an appearance on The Tonight Show.

During the interview, she let slip about the unusual detail and said she'd prefer people to call her 'anything but Anne'.
"Call me Annie, everybody, everybody, call me Annie, please," she said, before asking, "It's... can we talk about my name for a second?"
Annie (there you go) went on to explain that although Anne is her real first name, it's really more of a stage name.
And she ended up stuck with it after she gave it in when she first got into acting aged 14.

"When I was 14 years old, I did a commercial, and I had to get my SAG [Screen Actors Guild] card and they asked me, 'What do you want your name to be?'" she explained.
"And I was like, 'Well, it should be my name. My name's Anne Hathaway.'
"So that seemed like the right choice, but it never occurred to me that for the rest of my life, people will call me Anne."
When it comes to what she prefers to be called, she's not particularly bothered - as long as it's not Anne, of course - explaining that people call her Annie, Miss H or Hath.

She went on to tell host Jimmy Fallon that outside of work, there's only one person who calls her by her birth name.
You guessed it: her mum.
"The only person who calls me Anne is my mother and she only does it when she's really mad at me, like really mad," she said.

"So, every time I step out in public and someone calls my name, I think they're going to yell at me.
"People are like, "Anne!" And I'm like, 'What? What did I do?'
"People are so lovely they don't want to be presumptuous and so I think they come up with workarounds on set because the truth is nobody's comfortable with calling me Anne ever.
"It doesn't fit. I'm an Annie."

Absolutely no worries, Annie.
