Freddie Flintoff made a bit of a joke about his Top Gear crash when appearing on last night’s (19 April) episode of The Jonathan Ross Show.
The cricket legend spoke more about the accident as they discussed his upcoming documentary on Disney+ titled Flintoff.
Featuring ‘exclusive access’ to the 47-year-old, it looks at his life from winning two Ashes series for England to his life-altering car crash in 2022. And that’s set to be shown for the first time in the doc.

While Flintoff’s appearance on Ross’ sofa also saw him ‘traumatising’ actor Jason Isaacs, he opened up more about the crash as he said he ‘didn’t leave the house’ for several months.
“The only times I was leaving the house was for medical appointments and surgeries,” he said.
Talking in the documentary trailer about the crash being ‘so vivid’ in his mind, he told Ross that he doesn’t just have ‘physical scars’ but has been impacted on ‘the mental side of it’.
The chat show host asked Flintoff about how difficult it was for him ‘to open up’ and ‘let people come and film’ for the doc as the Bullseye presenter admitted that it ‘was quite strange at first’.

“Because you know, it’s something you live with and since the accident, had the flashbacks and the nightmares and things, and you’re talking about it quite a lot,” he said. “The hardest part is seeing people talk about you.”

The star then made things a little more light-hearted as he said: “I don’t want to spoil it – I had a crash, I survived.”
And Ross joined in, confirming that it’s certainly ‘not a plot spoiler’ for the doc.
Flintoff also spoke about how, while he went under the radar following the accident, he found himself getting back into cricket, watching test matches from a back room away from the crowd and wearing a ‘full face mask for months.'

He continued: “That time when I probably needed it most, cricket embraced me again. I found myself back in it. The TV stuff, I still do the odd job, I’ve got bills to pay. But cricket now, back in coaching is my definite future, I’m loving it.”
In September, Flintoff was announced as the new head coach of the England Lions cricket team.
But getting back into the sport after the crash still came with its own challenges as he admitted: "I was struggling with crippling anxiety. I had to have about five or six goes at leaving the room. Had to have a chat with myself in the mirror. I think because I’d not done anything for such a long time. I’d not shown myself without a face mask to anyone. It was like starting again.”
Flintoff lands on Disney+ on 25 April.
