Being a celebrity certainly comes with its perks, but there are also a lot of drawbacks to being in the public eye.

One notable con is the inability to go out in public without someone recognising you.

While it must be nice to have people come up to you and tell you how much they love you, the constant attention when you're out and about must get tiring sometimes.

It's not surprising that social media is full of footage of celebs snapping at fans who've unwillingly pushed their boundaries or simply approached them on a bad day.

With that in mind, John Cena has been getting praise for the way he once handled a fan who really wanted the wrestler turned movie star to say a catchphrase while he was out at a restaurant with friends.

A fan approached Cena with their camera out and asked: "Can you 'you can't see me, like?'" with the Peacemaker star deftly responding: "How about 'can I enjoy some time with my friends?'"

Whomever was recording said, "Ah sorry," and retreated with a nod of acknowledgement from Cena.

The encounter was posted to TikTok with the caption 'L John Cena', but fans who saw the footage were sure it was actually a massive win.

One said Cena was 'actually so nice,' while another declared that he 'manages to always carry himself with hustle, loyalty and respect.'

A third said he 'couldn't have been more professional' and there were many who took umbrage at the video's caption attempting to claim that this was in some was an L for Cena.

Someone else called him a 'polite boundary-setter' and praised Cena for not raising his voice or swearing during the interaction with the fan.

Others thought that approaching celebrities was fine if you just told them: "Hi, huge fan, I hope you're having a great day," and left it at that, instead of putting a camera on them and asking them quote your favourite films.

During a recent appearance on the Impaulsive podcast, Cena spoke about what he's thinking when he tells fans to leave him alone.

He said: "I am big on hard work, loyalty and respect. Also accountability. Man it's tough when you get emotional about something, it's tough to make sense of it all and I'm not at all perfect, but again try to be who you say you are.

"I also try to have more empathy every day, I understand 'hey if this video makes it, I'm on easy street' but in the realm of having empathy, what about me? I'm just trying to buy my coffee.

"I just try to handle those things one at a time and not let my emotions completely dominate the situation. It's impossible to bat 1,000."
