It's Reese Witherspoon's birthday today (22 March) and it's hard to believe the actress is just one year off of 50, considering she still looks as fresh-faced as she did when Legally Blonde first came out back in 2001.
The mum-of-three gained worldwide recognition for her portrayal of Elle Woods, reprising the role for a sequel in 2003.
At one point, she was also recognised as the world's richest actress but it was her business ventures, in true Elle Woods style, that played the biggest part in earning her that title.

Witherspoon recently returned to the screen in Amazon Prime's You're Cordially Invited with Will Ferrell, and as part of the press tour, she revealed that one of her former friends, also an A-list actor, no longer speaks to her after she 'roasted' her at an awards ceremony.
“So this friend of mine, who I didn't really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award,” she told People.
The star explained she had never been to this particular awards ceremony, so (like many others do), assumed it ‘was like a roast’.
“So I got up and roasted her,” Witherspoon added.

However, she explained it was more of a ‘British’, ‘elegant’ and ‘classy’ affair - not quite the vibe for her cracking cringe jokes.
“I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?’” Witherspoon recalled. “I'm still embarrassed about it.”
Now, we've seen what can happen when jokes at award ceremonies go wrong but fortunately, nobody came up and slapped Witherspoon on stage.
Instead, the two women had a far more civilised response and simply decided to never speak to each other again.

Witherspoon also confirmed that the two aren't friends anymore, so it's not just like that friend from primary school you never speak to and see once a year at Christmas.
She added: “I'm not even kidding - we're not friends anymore, I think she doesn't like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn't talk to me anymore. Oh well.”
Now, we obviously can't confirm for sure who it was that Witherspoon was on about, but some sources suggested that it could have been a certain Titanic actress.
However, last month Witherspoon put those rumours to bed, claiming the pair are 'dear friends'.

Taking to her Instagram Story, she said: “Just spoke to my very dear friend for years, Kate W. We laughed about this stupidity. Please do not believe the internet. We are good friends and have never had any falling out.”
In another Story, along with a screenshot of a news headline, Witherspoon added: “This is completely UNTRUE … so silly!”
I guess we will never know exactly who she was referring to.
