Eddie Murphy says he’s ready to do a Donkey spin-off - and I am more than ready to watch it.
The Shrek star has revealed he’s more than happy to reprise the role of the wisecracking Donkey for a potential spin-off, saying that he ‘loves’ the character.
Don’t we all?
The 61-year-old actor also thinks Donkey would be ideal for a spin-off, much like the hugely successful Puss in Boots spin-offs.

“I'd absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek. I'd do it in two seconds. I love Donkey.”
Murphy appreciates that the ball is in DreamWorks’ court but reiterated that he’s ‘sitting and ready’ if they want to call him.
He told Etalk: “That's DreamWorks Animation. They have to want to do it. DreamWorks, if you all want to do it, just call me. I'm ready, I'm sitting and ready to do Donkey.”
He added: “You know, they did Puss in Boots movies.

“They should have done a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain't funny as the Donkey.”
Shots fired, Puss.
Funnier or not, the latest flick, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - has been a stormer of a success, bringing in more than $300 million mark at the global box office, and even bagging an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film.

Reports of fifth Shrek film have been swirling since back in 2017, when screenwriter Michael McCullers revealed that he’d finished the script and absolutely loved it.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I finished that script, which I really, really, really love.
"It's really personal to me. It's got a pretty big reinvention behind it that I guess I can't reveal."
He went on to say: "Reinvention was sort of called for. There's been four movies and a lot of material, so the characters are pretty beloved and they're great characters, but you also have to think of a pretty new take at that point."

As for the original cast reprising their roles, we know that Murphy is definitely down, as is Mike Myers.
Myers, who voices the titular ogre, told GQ last year: "I love playing Shrek. If I had to do one Shrek a year I’d be thrilled."
While Puss himself, Antonio Banderas, reckons there’s another Shrek on the horizon at some point.

He told Deadline last month: “The first time I did Puss In Boots, I was working on Broadway, so I did my first session there.
"I’ve done five movies now. There is probably gonna be another, and Shrek is probably coming back."
I can't wait.
