Netflix doc reveals secret reason O.J.’s hand wouldn’t fit ‘the glove’ 30 years later

American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson is currently available to watch on Netflix

A new Netflix documentary on the story of O.J. Simpson has suggested a secret reason why he wasn't able to fit the glove on his hand in court.

Over 30 years on, and the trial of former American football player O.J. Simpson has remained one of the most high profile cases in US history.

Public fascination with the case remains to do this day, with Netflix releasing a new four-part documentary series on the case titled American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson.

Watch the trailer here:

On 12 June 1994, the sports star's former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were murdered outside her home in Los Angeles, California. Their bodies would be found shortly after midnight by neighbours.

In the days following the deaths, Simpson would become one of the prime suspects in the case, leading to the infamous car chase involving his white Ford Bronco car through the streets of LA.

Simpson's trial began exactly 30 years ago, with the running back later being acquitted of both murders of Brown and Goldman that October - thanks to a strong legal team which included Robert Kardashian.

One of the most infamous parts of the televised trial involved a blood-stained leather glove recovered from outside of Brown's home.

Simpson would try the glove on during the trial, with his defence lawyer Johnny Cochran uttering the famous line: "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."

American Manhunt touches on this highly publicised moment, with a clip from the series showing the moment Simpson attempted to put on the glove in court and the advice he was given in the days prior.

The series then cuts to an interview with lawyer and Simpson's defence attorney Carl E. Douglas, who tells the camera: "Number one rule in trial practices, never ask a question that you don't know the answer to.

"That rule is times 10 when it comes to a demonstration."

However, the bigger bombshell same from his former sports agent, Mike Gilbert who revealed that he'd encouraged Simpson to stop taking his arthritis medicine prior to the trial.
