Mums and their sons are usually inherently close - but according to Seann William Scott, him and his on-screen parent in American Pie weren't.
The US actor, who is best known for his breakout role as Steve Stifler, explained that fans can pick up on the distance between them if they rewatch the comedy franchise.
In the films, Jennifer Coolidge stars as 'Stifler's Mom' Jeanine - who is something of a sex symbol to Steve's high school pals, especially Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas).

Although she was only a supporting character, the actress made her mark on the film with witty one-liners, lacklustre parenting, and her continuous love affair with Finch.
The 63-year-old, from Boston, Massachusetts, was still in her prime at the age of 38 when she played the role of the MILF who all the lads in the fictional town of East Great Falls go wild for.
Scott, on the other hand, was just 22 years old in the first film - and he was paid an extremely small amount for the gig, considering the subsequent success of the franchise.

He doesn't even have many shared memories with his on-screen mother to look back on to bring him solace either, as viewers will notice that there isn't a single point where him and Coolidge are seen in close proximity to one another.
The Shifting Gears star pointed out that the pair don't actually have any scenes together in the American Pie films, as Coolidge was too preoccupied with seducing his mate.
During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, he discussed how Stifler could never be a mummy's boy, as he barely seen the woman who supposedly birthed him.
"If you think about it, we never have any scenes together," Scott explained. "She's always with Finch!

"I don't think we were ever in the same scene, but in the first American Pie, before we started filming, I just remember talking to her," the actor said.
"Because you know, it's like my first thing ever and I was just freaking out, but super excited. She was just so kind and so just like...'You're going to do great, just go and have fun'.
"I don't remember exactly what she said, but I remember thinking like, 'Wow, that was really nice of her'.

"She's amazing," Scott said of the actress. "But we never had any scenes!"
However, despite his bold declaration, there was one scene that he shared with Coolidge - sort of.
The 48-year-old added: "I walk in and I'm watching Finch and my mom have at it and I faint...but they're not really in the room. But that's it!"

He said he was extremely glad to see his American Pie co-star 'crushing it' with her career and even joked: "I miss my mom!"
After host Rich Eisen said Coolidge features on commercials 'every two seconds' these days, Scott replied: "As she should be. She's a legend."
Scott previously shared his thoughts on whether he would ever reprise his role as Stifler, revealing that he had been chatting with Jason Biggs (who played lead Jim Levenstein) 'about some ideas'.
