With spooky season coming to an end, many people might be looking for a horror film to go out on a bang with. Or maybe you believe horror films are for all year round and just love to be terrified.
Either way, this one’s totally disturbing – so messed up in fact it had viewers walking out of the cinema.
The film in question is Men, a visceral and confusing journey into grief, isolation and trauma from the mind of Alex Garland, the filmmaker who brought us such cinematic delights as Ex Machina and Annihilation.

Moving away from the sci-fi genre, Garland went all out with the dread, incorporating themes of suicide, sexual assault, domestic abuse and gender dynamics – and that’s just the half of it. Yeah, brace yourself.
Previously described as the ‘b*****d child’ of Hereditary and Get Out, the plot centres on Harper (Jessie Buckley) as she spends a couple of weeks in a manor house in rural England following the tragic death of her husband.
But what’s supposed to be a place to heal instead turns into a shape-shifting nightmare after she discovers a familiar face (if you know, you know) is stalking her.
When she attempts to seek solace in the surrounding village, things take an even weirder turn.

Without entering spoiler territory, there’s one scene in particular involving the other star of the film – Rory Kinnear – that will put even the hardiest of horror fans off their popcorn.
When the film came out last year, viewers described Men as one of the most disturbing films they’ve ever seen.
“The new A24 movie Men was so disturbing I wanted to crawl out of my own body,” wrote one on X, while another said: “The new #a24 movie is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen.”

A third commented: “I JUST SAW MEN DEFINITELY ONE OF THE MOST DISTURBING SCENES EVER OH MY GOD WHAT WAS THAT @A24.”
“I’ve seen a lot of disturbing, horrifying horror movies, but Men really made me want to walk out the theatre from being so disturbed,” added a fourth.
“@A24 y’all need to be arrested for the psychological damage your movies do to me.”

Speaking of which, numerous people reported actually seeing audience members walk out after that scene.
“If you’re thinking about watching A24’s MEN DON’T bro OML I have never seen multiple people walk out of a theater before,” warned one.
“If I had the opportunity to capture my face in the last act I would because I have no words to describe it.”
Another wrote: “Watched @A24 #MenMovie and during the final scene I saw some men walk out lmao.”
