Netflix have officially confirmed that Cillian Murphy will be starring in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.
The Irish actor will star as the iconic character of Tommy Shelby once again, while also helping to produce the highly-anticipated film.
Fresh off his Oscar-winning performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the 2023 Academy Award winning Oppenheimer, Murphy's inclusion in the film, as well as the film itself has been green-lit.

Fans have been waiting with baited breath for the official announcement from one of Netflix or BBC, who are making the film in collaboration with each other.
The Shelby family has been confirmed by the former to be making a return to our screens, and as part of a movie for the first time.
The Peaky Blinders movie will be directed by Tom Harper, and though there is no official name for the feature film yet, fans of the show already can't wait.

Steven Knight is the creator of the series, and has already written a script for it, having revealed in March that the film was going ahead with Murphy included, but people stayed cautious and waited for a studio green light.
Further casting and plot details are still a mystery, though rumours have floated around about it taking place during World War II.
Murphy spoke to Deadline today, stating: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,
"It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

Harper, who directed the back end of the show's first season, said: “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,
"Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
Knight added: “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”

The show creator previously stated that the film would be happening, shortly after congratulating Murphy on his Oscar win, saying 'he deserves everything he gets'.
Speaking on the film at the time, he stated: “He [Murphy] definitely is returning for it. We're shooting it in September just down the road [from the red-carpet event in Birmingham] in Digbeth.”
