Don't get too excited, but we're potentially six months away from GTA 6 finally being available to buy.
12 years since Grand Theft Auto V landed on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (remember them?), and its successor is in touching distance.
But while an autumn 2025 release date for the Rockstar product is on the cards, no date in particular has been publicly pencilled in by the developer or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

It means that for the time being, the rumour mill continues to circulate, which includes fans reckoning Grand Theft Auto VI has zero chance of being released in September or early October. And with those rumours, comes demand for more information ahead of release.
Yes, the fabled second trailer. Where is it? Will we even get one? There is genuinely no clue at this stage, as it's been 15 months since the first and only trailer for GTA 6 was released days before Christmas 2023.
There was hope that the second trailer was going to drop a year on from the first. But December 2024 came and went with no movement from Rockstar.

In fact, the only official updates we have had have come from Take-Two during its quarterly earnings calls, with both the autumn and winter meetings solidifying the loose autumn release timeline.
Well, it's now that time again. But this time, there's arguably a bit more legs to the rumour mill circling those hoping for a second trailer.

Gaming experts behind the GTA VI O'Clock newsletter have revealed a 'credible' insider has mentioned exactly when it could be expected.

The newsletter is put together by veteran games journalist Dan Dawkins alongside an award winning executive producer, James Jarvis.
In their latest newsletter, the duo revealed that they have tried to mirror the GTA 6 production timeframe with Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2; arguably the greatest game of all time.
With both games 'AAA' products - gaming industry speak for the biggest and most expensive games to hit market - created by the same developer, and taking years to produce, there is logic in assuming a similar approach would be taken.

"We created a timeline that overlays the GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 marketing campaigns (with all of their key media beats), to see what that might mean for GTA 6", the duo wrote.
"Broadly, Rockstar's last two big AAA games have run compressed five to six month campaigns in the lead up to launch.
"Given that we've been told to expect a 'Fall 2025' release, which we're tipping for late October / early November, then that places the start of the compressed campaign as late March / early April. We receive a lot of emails from people claiming to be insiders and this historical marketing pattern chimes with one of our more credible tip offs (which was more definitive in tipping April for trailer two)."

They continue: "To paraphrase Nobel laureate Eugene Fama (in relation to the stock market), the past does not predict the future, but we are talking about a more controlled, tried-and-tested promotion strategy, potentially executed by a core group of the same Rockstar employees. So, er, yeah: we're expecting GTA 6 trailer two by early April."
All eyes on April. Now we pray.
