A few Grand Theft Auto fans are understandably hesitant about the highly-anticipated sixth instalment.
With the hype building up for over a decade, the concern is that the finished game could be a bit of a letdown.
Though last December we got a glimmer of hope after Rockstar Games finally shared a trailer for the next generation of the iconic series.

However, fans were shocked on 4 December when the trailer dropped a day early.
The company took to X to reveal what went down, explaining: "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube."

It seems that 24 hours before, the unreleased GTA trailer appeared on social media and quickly spread around the internet.
According to reports, the video and the account were swiftly taken down, though the damage had already been done.
But having watched the trailer, we now know that the game is set in the very reminiscent Vice City and a woman called Lucia is one of the lead characters.

She happens to be the first-ever female lead character in GTA's history and the new game certainly looks promising.
That being said, a former Rockstar Games developer who worked with the company for over 20 years, has a potentially disappointing verdict.
"I don’t think it’s going to be wildly different from GTA 5," ex technical director Obbe Vermeij told YouTuber SanInPlay on his channel.
"I think maybe people might be a little disappointed on the first day but it’s still going to be the best game out there.

"It’s going to be a good game for sure."
In part, he blames the lack of technological advances in the gaming space.
He added: "There’s some rumours about creating new technology having to do with animation and AI and all that stuff.

"I think it’s time for a revolution where animation is more so AI-driven and physics-driven.
"If anyone is gonna make that step, it’s gonna be Rockstar."
Despite this just being Vermeij's opinion, it hasn't stopped fans from sharing their thoughts, as one person commented: "Might as well stick with GTA V."
A second said: "Course it won’t be, I feel GTA6 will flop."
A third wrote: "Not a big shock. I imagine the gameplay loop will remain largely unchanged as it has for the last decade."
Vermeij worked at Rockstar North back when it was still called DMA Design.
The first game he ever worked on was Space Station Silicon Valley on the N64.
He then went on to work on GTA 3 as a technical director.
The developer also has credits on Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA 4.
Even though he was still at the company when GTA 5 dropped, he did not have any credits on the game.
Amid all the talk ahead of GTA 6, he insists he has no 'inside information'.
GTA 6 is expected to release in fall 2025.
LADbible Group has contacted Rockstar Games for comment.
