If you spent the bank holiday weekend binge watching the Boyzone documentary while eating a spice bag and downing a can of Fanta, then chances are, you missed a few things. If you’re thinking that that’s an oddly specific example then yes, yes it it…don’t judge me! Let’s take a look at all the hot gossip from the showbiz world that might have passed you by shall we? Let’s get into it!
Irish Celebrities Show Off Their Vocal Chops with Sabrina Carpenter Covers
When A-list celebrities decide to belt out a few tunes, we’re all here for the entertainment, even if it’s more about the laughs than the talent. On X/Twitter, a few famous faces took on Sabrina Carpenter’s hits, and while we have to give them props for effort, let’s just say, the results were mixed.

First up, we have Saoirse Ronan, the Oscar-winning actress who took on Sabrina’s Espresso for her turn at the mic. Now, Saoirse is an undeniable talent on screen but as for her vocal abilities, let’s just say she might want to leave the singing to the pros. While her performance was adorable, she should probably focus on keeping that Oscar shelf stocked rather than aiming for a Grammy anytime soon.
But not all was lost in the Irish celebrity talent department. Paul Mescal, rather than singing, took on Please Please Please by Sabrina as a dramatic recital instead. Paul managed to add his acting prowess to the spoken piece which was genuinely moving.
All in all, the videos are fun to watch. Whether you're cringing, laughing, or secretly impressed, these celebrities proved they’re willing to try just about anything for a laugh. As for the Grammys? Let’s just say, Sabrina Carpenter’s seat is safe—for now.
Linda Nolan’s Farewell: A Day of Tears, Love, and Laughter
Hundreds gathered in Blackpool on Saturday to say goodbye to Irish singer and actress, Linda Nolan. The funeral itself was both heart breaking and uplifting. Fans lined the streets outside St Paul’s Church. Linda, known for her vibrant personality and sense of humour, was carried into the church in a pink, sparkly coffin—a reflection of her fun-loving spirit and flair for the dramatic. Her sister Anne described the day as “very emotional, very sad, but on the other hand, kind of joyous.” While there were plenty of tears, there was also laughter as stories were shared about Linda’s humour, warmth, and love for life.

The service was attended by family, friends, and famous faces, all wearing pink ribbons in honour of Linda’s long battle with cancer. Though her loss is deeply felt, the outpouring of love and support showed just how many lives she touched. It was a farewell full of music, memories and sparkle, just the way Linda would have wanted.
Samantha Mumba Defends Louis Walsh
So, if like me you watched the Boyzone docuseries over the weekend, then you may feel a little bit of resentment for Louis Walsh. The series shows him as cruel and uncaring about the successes and failures of the band and really paints him as the villain of the piece. Samantha Mumba spoke out over the weekend defending her former manager. Our would-be Eurovision hopeful for 2025, spoke with the Irish Independent and gave Louis credit for having great ‘business prowess’. She claims that Louis’ main role was to try and make money for his acts and he was very accomplished at doing just that. He was not there to make friends.

That may be so Samantha but friend or foe, I personally will never forgive him for inflicting Jedward onto the world! (Although that Gas Networks Ireland advert is pretty hilarious!)
And there you have it folks, you’re all caught up on the events you might have missed over the weekend. Watch this space for more news, celebrity gossip and more!
