Following his appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Liam Payne defended his comments about former fellow band member of One Direction Zayn Malik.
The 28-year-old took to Twitter to verify his comments on Malik, who has recently been accused of ‘striking’ his mother-in-law Yolanda Hadid.
He wrote: “Guys - I wouldn’t normally comment on this stuff but when it's your family it’s hard to let it slide.

“They mentioned a specific incident involving Zayn which I responded to - but listening back maybe I didn’t articulate myself as well as I could have.”
The singer-songwriter added that though they don’t always see eye to eye, he holds a special place for the former band member.
Payne wrote: “I was saying that there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side. That’s family. Zayn is my brother and I will stand by him forever.”
The former X-Factor contestant’s comments come after his appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive, and asked about Malik’s recent allegations of harassment and reports that he ‘shoved' Hadid while calling her a racist slur, according to Daily Mail.

While sitting down with the YouTube star turned boxer, Payne said:
"There are many reasons why I'll always, always be on his side. If I had had to go through what he went through – with his growth and whatever else.
“My parents are overly supportive to the point where it's annoying at times. Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense."
Shortly after the podcast aired, the singer received immense backlash on Twitter for his remarks.

One person wrote: “Liam Payne pls stop embarrassing yourself so publicly.”
Another said: “Liam Payne is doing a podcast with Logan Paul and Harry Styles is performing at a sold out Wembley Stadium in a few weeks. The levels is hilarious.”
A third person commented: “The way Harry dodges questions like the plague while Liam Payne will air out everyone’s dirty laundry for some loose change and a chicken wing.”
While another rushed to Malik’s defence, saying: “I don't blame Zayn for leaving one direction; if I had to deal with Liam Payne almost daily, I'd want out too.”

Mamamia reports that in October 2021, Malik pled 'no contest' to the four harassment claims made against him but was placed on 360 days of probation and must complete an anger management and domestic violence program.
