Willem Dafoe has already won an army of fans playing the Green Goblin in the Spider-Man universe.
However, the actor is keen to sink his teeth into a different kind of villain who would arguably be even more iconic.
In an interview with GQ, Dafoe said he has come up with a genius plot for a Joker sequel.
The first film was a smash hit with audiences around the world and there were rumours Joaquin Phoenix was coming back for another round being Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime.
Willem has suggested a plot that would blow people away.
"There is something interesting about, like, if there was a Joker imposter," he explained to GQ. "So it would be possible to have not duelling Jokers but someone that [claims] to be the Joker that isn't the Joker.
"And that kind of opens up the possibility of an interesting story, particularly if you had Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, and then you had someone who was either imitating or riffing off what he did.
"I fantasised about that. But other than that I am not talking to anybody [about it], you're the first one."
I bet there will be plenty more people now fantasising about this movie plot.
You can just imagine Dafoe and Phoenix working off each other to be the most unhinged villain in Gotham.
The Joker sequel was a very on again, off again rumour that was circulating Hollywood.
Joaquin revealed in October last year that he's not sure where the rumoured project sits.
When asked whether he's been formally asked to return to the role, he told The Playlist: "I mean, I dunno. From when we were shooting, we started to -you know, uhh, this is an interesting guy.
"There are some things we could do with this guy and could [explore] further. But as to whether we actually will? I don't know."
Considering how the original was such a success, it would be a huge missed opportunity not to see how far down the rabbit hole you could go with the character.
The movie ended with Joaquin's character earning a legion of fans in Gotham and it was suggested that he had escaped from Arkham State Hospital.
There's plenty to work with in a sequel and now there's the Joker imposter plot line to weigh up.
