Jane Austen’s novels are some of the most frequently adapted books to have ever been written. From Colin Firth’s iconic portrayal of Mr Darcy, to the greatest chick flick of all time, Clueless, her novels have been continuously reinvented to entertain modern audiences.
This summer, Netflix takes on Persuasion – Austen’s last completed novel, and arguably her most romantic.

Filmed in Bath, this new film promises to fulfil our needs for a period drama (something you may have been missing since binge watching series two of Bridgerton.)

The official trailer reveals the heartbreak experienced by the main character, Anne Elliot, who has been separated from her lover for eight whole years. However, it also looks as though this is set to be quite a comic film. One commenter even observed that it ‘feels like a comedy a little too much.’
In fact, the trailer seems to have upset quite a few Austen fans, with one viewer questioning whether the producers had even read the original book. Nevertheless, sometimes trailers can be misleading, so only time will tell whether the film will enrage or appease Austen lovers.
Who Is In The Cast Of Persuasion?
