Viewers are struggling to get past a traumatising scene as Netflix adds one of the most bingeable series ever.
The critically acclaimed crime drama ran from 2006 to 2013, with a reboot in 2021, and follows the life of America's favourite serial killer.
Showtime Network's show Dexter explores the life of Miami Metro Police Department officer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) who secretly lives a double life.

As well as investigating murders in the homicide division, the blood pattern analyst kills murderers in his spare time.
However, as all eight seasons are now available to watch on Netflix, viewers have been reminded of the chilling scene starring Julie Benz, who plays Rita Bennett.
Bennett had two children when she met Dexter, and after she married him, she welcomed a third child.

In the season four finale, when Dexter murdered The Trinity Killer, he convinced Rita to leave early for their honeymoon.
However, when he returned home, he received a voicemail from Rita, who said she was returning home to pick up her forgotten ID and would take a later flight.
When Dexter called Rita's phone, he was stunned to hear the ringtone from inside her purse on the table.
After hearing his son cry, he found the baby sitting in a pool of blood and Rita's lifeless body lying inside a bathtub.

She was the last person murdered by The Trinity Killer.
And having rewatched the scene on Netflix, viewers are still traumatised.
"I’ll never actually get over Rita’s death in Dexter," one person tweeted.

"So I’ve been rewatching Dexter for the last two weeks and now I'm on season four and I’ve been putting off watching the last episode omg I can't watch Rita die again," a second wrote.
"NO RITA U CANT DIE," a third added, as a fourth penned: "Rewatching Rita die on Dexter kills me."
Benz previously admitted to having a panic attack before she was told that her character was to be killed off in Dexter.
On an episode of the Inside of You podcast in 2021, she said: "Getting killed off Dexter was pretty bad, I had no idea that was coming.

"About three days before, they called me in on my day off to do some ADR and then they called me to the producers' room, and I knew walking from the ADR stage to the producers' room.
"When you get called to the producers' room, you're being killed off a show, it's just, you just know that."
She continued to say: "Before they'd said a word, I said, 'I'm smart enough to know what's going on, so thank you for a great four years, let's talk tomorrow'.
"And I'm feeling the panic attack coming on. They wanted to have a conversation and so then I had to sit down."
Dexter is available to watch on Netflix now.
