Viewers may have been digging into Netflix’s new Halloween thriller Time Cut, many fans are being left baffled by the ending.
The film currently sits atop the streamer’s chart as the biggest Netflix film in the UK, but despite this not everyone is convinced.
While many have already noted the film’s failing commitment to 00’s fashion, others have discovered the tragic true story behind the movie.

Regardless of these though, in online threads discussing the content of the film itself, there has been one common criticism: the ending is kinda bonkers, and for many, makes ‘no sense’.
Before we continue let’s take a note of the film itself for those who for some reason are still reading despite not having seen it.
Time Cut sees a teenage girl inexplicably sent back from the modern day to 2003, where she realises she has time to prevent her sisters murder before it happens.

Before we even try to unpack how horrifying it is that 2003 is now a year old enough to be used in time travel movies, this sets up a clear and obvious goal for the movie.
For her to get home. So does she do it? Is she able to figure out a way to make it back to 2024?
Spoilers ahead – last warning – if you keep reading you forfeit the right to yell at me.

In the end, this isn’t quite what she does. After going back to 2024, she realises that after saving her sister from the killer, her parents don’t know who she is.
Instead of continuing on like this after realising she can’t save her sister and go back to 2024, she decides instead to live in 2004
One commenter on Reddit said: “The ending was a load of w*nk, much like the rest of the movie.
“What about the parents? In 2024 'where the f*ck has our daughter disappeared to?', in 2003 'who is this random girl we hardly know and why is she living in our house?'

Another said: “So her parents were crushed that their daughter was murdered in 2003. 21 years later to the day, their younger daughter goes into the same barn their older daughter died in, and VANISHED.
“This is being presented as a good thing. Those poor parents I can't stop laughing at how stupid that is.”
Whilst I personally can understand the desire to escape 2024 at all costs, once you sit down and start properly digging into the ending, it undoubtedly has a plot hole or two.
