Sofia Vergara has revealed what actors are actually snorting when it looks like they're doing lines of cocaine on the camera.
Naturally it's not real drugs they're doing for our entertainment otherwise some of our favourite series would have been cut short because everyone had been sent to prison.
Just as when actors are smoking on camera they're not puffing away on actual cigarettes, instead making do with a herbal replacement free of addictive substances, there's a replacement for hard drugs too.

Vergara has starred in Griselda, a new Netflix drama based on a notorious Colombian drug lord of the same name.
The real Griselda gained the nickname 'cocaine godmother', along with some other monikers, and embraced her reputation to the point that she named one of her sons Michael Corleone after the movie gangster.
Griselda has gained significant critical appreciation and audiences are loving what they're seeing as well.

However, there's one part of the production that Vergara really didn't enjoy and that's having to pretend to snort cocaine for scenes, revealing to AP Entertainment that she was taught how to make it look convincing by Griselda's director.
She said: "Pretend cocaine? I learned how to snort it with Andrés Baiz, the director.
"He was very helpful for me because I didn't know how to smoke either. So he would come to my house and, you know, I wanted to make it real.
"I wanted to be not thinking about it while I was acting so I also wanted to do it before I would get to the set."

As for what goes into it, the actor explained that it wasn't a pleasant experience and she'd rather not have to do it again, so while it may look like cocaine it certainly doesn't seem to evoke the same response in those who snort it.
"I don't know what it is, actually it doesn't feel good. It's like some kind of milk," Vergara admitted before executive producer Eric Newman chipped in to say it was 'powdered milk'.
"It's not fun to do. I wanted to do it only one time, I wanted to do this scene really good so I didn't have to do it 100 times."

While she might not have enjoyed snorting powdered milk, Vergara did like getting to play Griselda and said she 'went crazy for the story' of the series.
Griselda is available to stream now on Netflix.
