The wait for the must-see comedy of summer 2023 is almost over as the hilarious No Hard Feelings lands in cinemas on the 21st of June. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, the edgy comedy has been highly anticipated among critics and fans alike as it finally hits our screens.
Viewers are treated to a performance by Academy Award Winner Jennifer Lawrence as she has never been seen before. She plays someone who responds to a Craigslist advertisement posted by parents seeking a girlfriend for their socially awkward son before he goes to college.
Lawrence’s uproarious character Maddie has one job, to make a man out of 19-year-old Percy before he goes to college. Remarkably, the movie is based on an actual Craigslist advert posted in 2013 that inspired the writers of the films.
In the advert, the mother wrote: “I want to find a cute young girl to date him and turn him from high school nerd to cool college kid.” When the film director and co-writer Gene Stupnitsky read it he just knew it was the perfect role for Jennifer Lawrence.
The former Hunger Games star agreed and admitted she “died laughing” over the true story behind her new movie when she was pitched it over dinner with Stupnitsky. She said “There wasn’t a script or anything. I just thought he had a funny idea. And then a couple of years later, he handed me the funniest script I’ve ever read in my life.”
Now that script has finally been turned into an outrageous and laugh-out-loud comedy which is sure to delight all comedy fans. It’s bold, gut-busting and is undoubtedly the must-see R-rated comedy of the summer.
Based on the premise of the Craigslist advert, the movie takes it on a side-splitting tale in which Maddie who is desperately looking to overcome her financial situation, struggles with the challenge of bringing Percy out of his shell before the end of the summer. With time running out can she turn him into that “cool college kid” and starve off bankruptcy?
Alongside Jennifer Lawrence is an all-star cast of Andrew Barth Feldman, Matthew Broderick, Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Scott MacArthur and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
It's co-writer and director Gene Stupnitsky knows a thing or two about making much-loved comedy films having previously been involved in the writing of Year One starring Jack Black and Michael Cera and the hilarious Bad Teacher featuring Cameron Diaz. He has also written and directed several episodes of the hit comedy tv-show The Office.
So don’t miss out on the best comedy movie of 2023 as it lands in cinemas this month. It’s a film that simply needs to be seen on the big screen to fully appreciate the bite and edge of the film’s humour.
Also, it's a chance to see a whole new Jennifer Lawrence like you’ve never seen her before. It is no surprise that the writer of the film immediately thought of the Academy Award-winning actor when he came up with the idea for the film.
Lawrence is a natural on the comedy screen and her character is witty and gut-bustlingly funny from start to finish. With a hilarious plot and script along with Jennifer Lawrence’s rollicking performance, this movie is simply unmissable. No Hard Feelings lands in cinemas on June 21st.
