Toy Story fans are calling for Disney and Pixar to make an origin story for Woody after the new film Lightyear revealed what Buzz's life was like before he became Woody's partner in crime.
Chris Evans helped introduce a whole new layer to Buzz's story as he took on the role for the new origin movie, where we meet the character who inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy.

Lightyear sees Buzz attempting to return home after a space mission gone wrong, and finally explains exactly why he was enemies with Zurg in the original Toy Story films. It's a story that can entertain both old and new fans of the franchise, but it's the former who are now clamouring for creators to dive further into the stories of other Toy Story characters.
After watching Lightyear, film critic Chris Wasser pitched the idea as he commented: "LIGHTYEAR is grand and all, but the TOY STORY spin-off I’m most looking forward to is THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE WOODY, featuring the smoky tones of, say, Kurt Russell, as everyone’s favourite cowboy sheriff…"
Fans are given a brief glimpse into Woody's past in the original films, when he discovers he used to be part of a TV show called Woody's Roundup.
After meeting his fellow stars he gets asked to stay with the group, but Woody can't help but return to his favourite deputy, Andy.

Many people are calling for a spin-off to follow his cowboy theme, with one commenting, "Next I want a Woody spin-off, but make it like a 60s western," while another wrote: "Not ONE post-credit scene revealed a WOODY film I’m slightly upset. Another Animated western? About the round up gang? YES!! I would very much love that."
Woody isn't the only character pitched for a spin-off, as one Twitter user also wrote: "After seeing #Lightyear I would like to see either Woody or Jessie get their own spin-off film cause it would be pretty cool to see."
The range of toys Andy kept in his room would certainly offer a lot of material for Disney and Pixar, but only time will tell whether the companies will decide to dust them off and send them on some new adventures.
