The latest Disney+ remake was teased to fans today (31 May) as a trailer for Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio was shared across the platform’s social media pages.
The film, created using both live-action performance and computer animation, will recount the same tale as Disney’s original cartoon from 1940. It follows a lonely woodcarver, Gepetto. After carving a puppet of a young boy named Pinocchio, Gepetto is visited by The Blue Fairy, who brings Pinocchio to life. She vows to make him a real boy if he is to stay ‘brave, truthful, and unfaithful’. What follows is a series of encounters with some questionable characters, testing Pinocchio as he is guided by the talking cricket Jiminy Cricket.
Hosting a board of famous faces, the film is another addition to Zemechis’ impressive filmography, joining the likes of Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, Cast Away and The Witches.
Pinocchio Trailer:
The trailer looks into Gepetto’s workshop as he puts the finishing touches on Pinocchio’s puppet. He is visited by The Blue Fairy after wishing for a boy to the stars, which grabs the attention of a lethargic Jiminy. The audience is then shown glimpses into the adventures taken by Gepetto, Pinocchio, and Jiminy Cricket around Pleasure Island and the characters they meet.
