According to the announcement, Smith was suffering with some 'vocal issues' and could not continue with their performance.
Following the news, Smith took to social media to apologise to their fans for letting them down.
They said that they were just not able to continue after noticing 'something was really wrong'.

“Dearest sailors, I don’t know what to say honestly," Smith wrote in a statement.
"I fought off a virus a few weeks ago and since then we have travelled across Europe and had such incredible shows.
“Today in soundcheck I felt fine and was so excited to give Manchester an amazing show tonight, with a special surprise at the end.
“During my third song, I noticed something wrong with my voice. I prayed it was just my voice waking up for the show but into the fourth song I could feel something was really wrong.

Following the statement, Smith's fans came out in support of them, wishing them a speedy recovery.
"It was hideous how it happened and how the crowd had to wait to be told after they where sounding literally incredible - but they’ve got to look after themselves and their voice ultimately," wrote one attendee.
Another commented: "What ever the issue was. We thoroughly enjoyed your songs and could not fault your performance and we had a ball mate. Looking forward to the rescheduled performance."
Not everyone was too impressed, however, as some felt that it was pretty poor of the musician to cancel just a few minutes into the gig.

"I’m sorry but the excuse to cancel tonight’s show in Manchester 20 mins in just wasn’t good enough your fans have spent their time and hard earned money to come and see you, you can’t go from singing immaculately to not being able to sing at all in the space of 2 mins." slammed one disappointed fan.
