A contestant on The Apprentice has quit the show for health reasons, according to the Daily Star.

The publication reports that Shama Amin drops out in this week's episode after revealing that she has rheumatoid arthritis.

The 41-year-old nursery owner, from Bradford, says on the show: "I would just like to say something, Lord Sugar, if that's OK. I suffer from a condition called rheumatoid arthritis.

"Because of medical reasons, due to this process being so physically demanding, despite the efforts the whole team has made to support me, I've had to make a difficult decision to leave the process."

She added: "Mentally, I was strong enough to carry on. But my body wasn't allowing me to carry on. So I had no choice but to make a difficult decision like that."

Responding to her decision, Lord Sugar says: "Well Shama, I'm really sad to hear that. I wish you and your family all the best for the future."

Going into the show, the mum-of-five said she wanted to 'be a living example for the Asian women and South Asian women out there', and 'being a lady of colour, wearing a headscarf' means she understands the challenges they face.

She added that she has skillset to be 'one of the best [and most] successful businesswomen in the early years sector'.

Sadly, her dream of securing a £250,000 ($340,000) investment is now over.

This incentive, plus the public exposure, draws thousands of applications for the show every series - but the actual experience of being on the show can be quite different to what we see on TV.

Lottie Lion, who appeared in the 2019 series of The Apprentice, opened up on TikTok about her time on the show, admitting her revelations might get her into 'so much trouble'.

In the video, she claimed that Lord Sugar doesn't write his little boardroom quips (which seems pretty obvious), rather he has a written list of gags that he ticks off as he goes along.

She also claimed that any sales you make off-camera are not included in the totals.

She said: "If it didn't happen on camera, it didn't happen at all.

"For example, if you make a sale off camera it will not be counted to your team winnings or your personal efforts - it just didn't happen. Even if it's, like, £80,000."

However, she said the 4am wakeup call is in fact the real deal, and contestants really only have 20 minutes to get themselves ready before the cars arrive to pick them up.

Is that really worth £250,000? I think not.
