Netflix and Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman has captured hearts (and imaginations) with the epic first season.
Fans were thrilled to find there was a bonus episode after they thought the first season had finished but are now wanting more. The series has received rave reviews from critics and fans of the original source material comics too (a rare feat!) so many want to know if there will be a second season.

It happened during the latest episode of I Like To Watch, Netflix’s YouTube series hosted by by RuPaul's Drag Race stars Trixie and Katya.
The footage shown was an animated version of Gaiman's story A Dream of a Thousand Cats plus Calliope.
As fans now know this turned out to be a star-studded bonus episode that was being held back and has now been added to Netflix to rave reviews, instead of a sneak preview of season two.
The episode of I Like To Watch was quickly taken down following the mistake, but it will be back up shortly.
Will there be a second season of The Sandman and when will it be released?
The first series has had an incredible 198 million hours of global watch time in the first 10 days since being released.

Surely that warrants a second season?
As yet there is no official word from Netflix on if the show has been renewed, however after the runaway success of the show some say it seems inevitable.
One of the show-runners, Allan Heinberg says the next chapter is "ready to go" if it's a yes.
There's definitely more than enough material for producers to work with, as Neil Gaiman wrote 75 issues of the original Sandman comics.
Who is in the cast of The Sandman season 2?
It’s not yet known who will star in season 2 of the show if it is renewed, however it’s safe to assume that Tom Sturridge would return as Dream/Morpheus, one of The Endless.

Neil Gaiman said: "Part of the fun of Sandman is, if we get to season 2, you're going to meet a whole lot more people... And by the way, in season 2, you're also going to re-encounter pretty much everybody that you knew and loved in season 1."
Season one saw some familiar faces from Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, Stephen Fry, Munya Chawawa and Vivienne Acheampong who starred in Netflix’s The One and HBO’s The Witches.
The bonus episode also surprised fans with Sandra Oh, James McAvoy, David Tennant and Michael Sheen, and after the success of the first it would be no surprise if further A-Listers are knocking down the door to be involved.
