In 50 years of producing comedy skits, SNL are likely to have made a few errors of judgement but the American comedy show is facing huge backlash after appearing to mock the appearance of Aimee Lou Wood.
The Sex Education actor took to Instagram to slam the show's creators after her character from The White Lotus appeared in a recent skit, which the 31-year-old dubbed 'mean and unfunny'.
Wood has struggled with hateful comments about her teeth in particular and the skit also mocked her accent, which as a proud northerner myself, is definitely crossing the line.

The Stockport born actor, who recently opened up about her autism and ADHD diagnosis having struggled with social anxiety as a child, was also bullied at school because of her teeth.
If you've ever spent time on the internet you will probably know that Americans love to tease us Brits about our teeth and the way we say certain things, like 'Chewsday' instead of Tuesday and bo'ohw'o'wo'er instead of bottle of water.
So, it is perhaps no surprise that the creators of the skit decided to take aim at Wood's character Chelsea, who was a great addition to the third season of the comedy drama series.
However, fans have noticed that the jokes about Wood's character were very out of place in what was an otherwise political commentary sketch, called The White Potus, as it focused on how the Trump family and the rest of his government would behave if they were to visit the hotel and resort.

On Reddit, people were quick to stand up for the British actress and seemed to agree that the jokes were both unnecessary and unfunny.
One user wrote: "this was the weakest writing in the sketch. No political commentary and nothing clever about her White Lotus character."
Another said: "I’m surprised no one in production pointed out how mean spirited this was. It’s just so weird. In sketch that is largely about punching up at the clowns running the country they also decided to punch down at this chick for no real reason."
Most seemed to be in agreement that it was simply bizarre to target one actor from the show in what was otherwise making funny and important points about the state of the current US government.

A different user wrote: "Everything else was largely mocking the political climate while being accurate to The White Lotus, but then there’s just a joke that’s about Aimee Lou / Chelsea having a strong accent and prominent teeth. It felt weirdly mean spirited."
In a world where actors are starting to look far too similar thanks to the wonders of modern botox and fake veneers, perhaps we should be appreciating the fact that Wood is making a name for herself in Hollywood, while looking naturally beautiful, rather than tearing her down for looking slightly different.
