For all of you crime lovers out there who can't get enough of your gritty dramas, this one's definitely for you.
If you like a bit of Kin or Line of Duty, the chances are that this 2023 series is right up your street.
The BBC crime drama follows DI Lou Slack (Leila Farzad) who, 19 years ago, was a young police officer at her lowest.

That was until she met Col McHugh (Andrew Buchan), a low-ranking but ambitious newcomer to the Leeds underworld.
As the pair crossed paths they struck a deal that changed their lives forever.
While the deal they made allowed Col to become very rich and very powerful, Lou managed to turn around her failing career.

As the pair grew closer Lou has become more and more corrupt.
However, after Lou’s family is faced with tragedy, she attempts to take the moral high ground and right her wrongs.
Titled Better, you can take a look at the trailer below:
Viewers have, largely, been loving season one and some have even compared it to one of the very best in Line of Duty.

"The first 4 episodes were excellent, great production and acting all round," one fan commented on social media.
"It wasn't anything new that hasn't been on before, hints of Line of Duty & Happy Valley storylines being woven in."
Although, others thought the comparison was a little far fetched.

"The only thing wrong with Better is that the BBC pitched it as 'the new Happy Valley'. And because they did, the show got a weird audience and critical reception," another person wrote.
"Line of Duty is incredible, right? But if someone promised you Happy Valley and you sat down to watch Line of Duty, I don't think you'd like it much. That's what's happening here.
"This isn't Line of Duty. It isn't Happy Valley. Better is in a category of its own, and it stands as tall as either of those shows do.
"I really enjoyed this, started thinking usual Line of Duty type show was going to happen but no."

Someone else added: "Showed the vulnerable side of both police and criminals, it makes you sort of understand the circumstances of people that commit crimes and that the police do live in the environment they are trying to control and the difficulties that come with it.
"The relationship between the leads worked well, they had obvious chemistry."
Sadly for fans of the show, reports have suggested that the BBC have axed Better after season one.
Anyway, if you still want to give it a go, Better is available to watch on iPlayer now.
