Euphoria season three has delivered yet another crazy moment in its latest episode, and an actor has explained how the incredibly graphic scene was actually filmed.

The new season of the hit HBO show has seen the return of a number of its high profile actors, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer.

Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has not been afraid however of putting their characters through the ringer despite their relatively newfound celebrity status.

Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie is now an OnlyFans star, with her bizarre baby scenes making headlines, and Hunter Schafer’s Jules engages in a pretty extreme ‘mummification’ BDSM scene.

Elordi’s Nate has had the most distressing scene of the new season so far though in the most recent episode, with debt collectors beating him up and then proceeding to cut his toe off with tools in a graphically realistic moment.

Fans were left shocked by Euphoria’s brutal ending to Nate and Cassie's wedding

Cassie finds out in the episode that Nate owes a lot of money to some sketchy guys led by Naz, who is played by Jack Topalian.

Naz is waiting for Cassie and Nate after they get back from their wedding, having his goons throw Cassie to the ground and assault Nate, eventually cutting his toe off in graphic full view.

One fan took to X to discuss the scene, saying: “ok they just killed the f*ckin bird and cut nate’s toe CRAZY WORK.”

Another fan said they were ‘totally disoriented in the worst possible way’.

Over on Reddit fans reacting to the new episode said they had to ‘look away’ because the scene ‘got them good’.

Despite it genuinely looking like they cut Elordi’s toe off in the scene, Topalian has revealed how they made it look so realistic.

Nate’s toe that was cut off was a prosthetic, but one scene involved Elordi’s real foot

Speaking to Page Six Topalian has spoken about the graphic scene and how they filmed it so realistically.

He said that it was a prosthetic toe, adding: “There’s a cutting of a particular body part that my character takes great pleasure in doing.”

In the shot prior to Nate’s toe being cut off it genuinely looks like Topalian is holding the clippers to Elordi’s real toe. The reason it looks like that is because it’s what genuinely happened.

The actor explained: “The clippers that they gave me have pretty sharp edges. So I had to be really mindful of that, because at one point, I do put it around Jake’s toe.”

“If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe. But, everything turned out well! There were no mishaps, no accidents.”

Topalian also revealed that, in the fight that leads to his toe being cut off that was really Elordi doing the stunts.

He said that the Australian actor was ‘committed, giving, and prepared’.
