Euphoria creator responds to viewers over Sydney Sweeney's 'absurd' scenes

"We wanted to capture what she's trying to show the audience and be inside of it"

Cassie Howard's OnlyFans conquest in Euphoria season 3 has been addressed by the HBO drama's creator, Sam Levinson.

Now streaming weekly with a returning cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, and Jacob Elordi, the premiere episode of Euphoria's latest outing saw Cassie and Nate planning their luxurious wedding.

To help foot the bill, Sweeney's character launches an OnlyFans page, where she dons some unexpected get-ups.

First she's in a puppy costume, then a baby costume, which split fans of the hit show right down the middle.

During an interview with The Daily Beast, Levinson (who also gave us The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp) revealed all on this messed-up storyline.

"[Cassie has] got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humour, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it," he said.

"What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we're able to tie into it so that we're not too inside of her fantasy or illusion - the gag is to jump out, to break the wall."

Wading into the production techniques behind these scenes, Levinson went on to share: "Some of these scenes we only lit with these ring lights that she would use.

"When you're inside, it's a beautiful, glowing front light, but then you jump out of it, and it's just a pool of light, and everything surrounding it is dark. It's just gnarly and jarring.

"We wanted to capture what she's trying to show the audience and be inside of it. But then also pull back wider and see how depressing it is."

At the Euphoria season 3 premiere, Sweeney herself told Entertainment Tonight why she considers her character to be 'crazy'.

"She will do anything and at all costs to be famous this season. She makes a lot of wild, interesting choices."

Incredibly, the 28-year-old could end up cashing in some serious figures thanks to her onscreen alter-ego's OnlyFans activity.

In terms of the dog-themed wearables, Cassie is seen in cuffs around her wrists, a collar and leash, a brown love-heart painted nose, a dog ears headband, and a brown silk corset straight out of Sweeney's own lingerie line, Syrn.

It is called the Date Night Satin Corset and costs £198.78.

Boosting the amount of eyes on the product, Syrn uploaded the Euphoria sequence on Instagram, captioning it: "@Cassie, we might know someone who can help with that... Syd as Cassie in the Date Night Corset in Bitter Sweet for Euphoria season 3."

Will the garms' appearance in one of the biggest TV series out there result in fans wanting to replicate Cassie's look for real, putting their hard-earned money in Sweeney's already brimming pockets?

This comment might suggest so: "The most impactful and stylish collaboration."
