“He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations."
As tributes pour in on social media, such as in the comments of Perry’s final Instagram post, Friends fans are remembering his character’s final ever iconic line on the show.
One user shared a clip of the scene to X, writing: “Instead of thinking about how Matthew Perry passed away alone, let’s think of it like this scene, with Chandler Bing’s iconic last line of Friends.
“He was happy & he’d had some time for coffee and a catch up with his friends before he had to leave them.”

As you’ll probably know, the end of Friends came in 2004 after 10 seasons.
In the finale, a two-parter titled ‘The Last One’, Monica and Chandler welcome their two adoptive children and bid farewell to the iconic apartment, ready for a move to the suburbs.
The six friends say goodbye to the New York spot and agree to go for one last coffee at Central Perk.

And Perry gives the final line for the cast.
In a poignant moment, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) asks “Shall we get some coffee?”
To which Chandler responds: “Sure.”
But with his perfect wit and improv expertise, he hilariously adds: “Where?”

The reason Perry's final line hits fan and remains iconic is because the six friends drank at the same coffee house, Central Perk, in every episode - a staple of the show.
Fans were quick to praise his ‘natural humour’ in the replies as many said the scene ‘hits you right in the feels’.
One user emotionally wrote: “It’s a beautiful way to remember Matthew Perry. Let’s imagine him finding happiness and enjoying moments with friends just like Chandler did.”

Another put: “Holy cr*p… I was fine until this post/clip. RIP.”
Others echoed: “This has broken me. Chandler was and always will be my favourite. So many happy memories growing up watching friends on repeat.”
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, Perry’s death was treated as a ‘water rescue’.
An investigation is ongoing and there is currently no cause of death.
There was no apparent foul play.
