Rob Brydon has weighed in on the rumours about a festive return for Gavin & Stacey.
In case you missed it, earlier this week fans were left delighted after a report claimed that the beloved sitcom would be back on our screens in December - five years since that cliffhanger.
According to Deadline, a new episode was set to be filmed this summer with the intention of being aired for Christmas 2024.

The report went on to claim that the Christmas special of the show, created by Ruth Jones and James Corden, is currently in pre-production, so it'll be some time before anyone gets in front of a camera.
However, just as fans were celebrating the news, Jones - who plays Nessa in the show - poured cold water on the reports saying it was ‘sadly just a rumour’.
The actress was discussing the reports of a bidding war for Gavin and Stacey between the BBC and Netflix during an appearance on RTE Radio 1 on 14 February and asked: "Where's this come from?"

She continued: "If there was something to say on that front, James and I would happily announce it.
"When he came back from America, we went for lunch in London a few months ago and we got papped. And then the next thing is 'Oh my god, they must be writing more Gavin & Stacey', which is lovely.
"It's lovely that people love it and they're so desperate for it."
Now, Brydon - who plays fan favourite Uncle Bryn - has revealed that he would ‘love it if it were true’ but added that ‘as far as I'm aware it's another rumour’. Say it ain’t so, Rob.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, Brydon said: "I get asked about this on every interview I ever do, but as far as I'm aware it's another rumour."
Despite the fact that Jones has shut down speculation, many fans are still hopeful that a special could be on the cards and that the creator is simply keeping quiet for the moment.
In the past, Jones has admitted there was room for more episodes but said it was just 'so complicated' for her and Corden to get together and put pen to paper to write a new script - but with Corden recently moving back to the UK surely that makes things a bit more doable?

And, for what it’s worth, Pam and Mick - played by Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb - have previously said it would be an 'absolute yes' if they were asked to reprise their iconic roles.
The BBC declined to comment when approached by LADbible about the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.
