Amazon Prime has issued a statement regarding the final episode of their hit TV series The Boys, following an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
The season four finale of the superhero series landed on the streaming site today (18 July) and featured the culmination of a plot which saw Homelander (Antony Starr) try to kill the President-elect of the United States on his inauguration day.
However the streamer has since decided to release the episode alongside a content warning following the failed assassination attempt on Trump earlier this week.

In a statement posted to The Boys Instagram account moments after the finale aired, Prime Video condemned 'real world violence of 'any kind' and stressed that violent storylines in the series were 'coincidental' and had no relation to real world events.
"The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump," the statement began.
"The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene of plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.

"Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind."
It is also understood that the episode has been renamed from 'Assassination Run' to 'Season Four Finale' and a viewer discretion warning pops up to anyone viewing the episode on Prime Video in the US.
Former US President and current Republican candidate Trump was the target of an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania Saturday, 13 July.
The businessman turned politician was speaking at a campaign rally when a number of shots rang out, with Trump ducking to the ground as members of his security detail rushed to cover him.
