The Traitors final episode rule that completely changes series as we know it explained in full

The Traitors has introduced a rule for the final episode that completely changes the series

The Traitors has initiated a rule this year that is completely new for the third season of the show, and will begin to come into play in the next couple of episodes.

This week is the last of series three, and we will soon have to say goodbye to Alexander’s antics, Minah’s stellar lies, and most importantly, Charlotte’s fake Welsh accent.

This year’s show has been full of standout moments, whether it be Armani and Linda’s woeful traitor-ing, the witch-hunt (and subsequent iconic 'you're basically calling me Harold Shipman' moment) of Dr Kas, or some of the beautiful backstabbing from Minah, and maybe Charlotte in the upcoming episodes.

Despite this though, there are only three episodes left, with Friday’s finale running from 8.30pm on BBC One.

In the very first episode, host Claudia Winkleman announced a new rule that in theory would only come into play on the final episode.

Claudia said that, in the final roundtable of the show, people leaving would not announce whether they were a Faithful or a Traitor.

For those watching for the first time, if there are any Traitors present at the final roundtable, they get all the prize money.

If they are banished, all the remaining Faithfuls will split the money.

Where in previous years you knew whether those banished in the final roundtable were Faithfuls, this year those leaving will not announce whether or not they are a Traitor.

This means that the Faithful remaining will have to elect when they want to end the game purely based off their instincts to know whether or not a Traitor is amongst them.

This rule also has repercussions for the next two episodes however, as the next two roundtables will be the only occasions on which they will know for sure whether they have banished a Faithful or a Traitor.

While this may seem a great addition that adds tension to the final episode, not everyone is convinced.

Former Traitor from season two, Paul Gorton, hit out at the decision.

A fan asked for his opinion on Twitter, posting: “What do you think to the rule change for the final ep?

“Will it make a big difference for the remaining Traitors?”

Gorton responded by criticising the decision, saying: “Don't like it, I didn't think the final needed tampering with.

“It'll never be just a walk off, there's facial expressions and body language that may make it intriguing. Let's see how it plays out.”

The Traitors season three is airing tonight, tomorrow night, and Friday night.
