Easter has come early, as chocolate fans have stumbled across the cheapest place to buy Cadbury’s Creme Eggs this year.
In the latest casualty of the cost of living crisis, the price of the cult sweet treat has shot up over the last few years, and Brits are not impressed.
On a recent Reddit thread, one chocolate fan reported seeing them for as much as 99p in their local shop. In 2025, a single Creme Egg costs 85p at Sainsbury’s and a whopping £1 at Waitrose and Morrisons.

But shoppers have found one retailer selling them for almost 40p cheaper if you buy in bulk.

Creme-Egg-gate comes just weeks after Brits collectively lost their minds over the price hike of Mini Eggs.
This Easter, a 1kg family-sized pouch of the Cadbury chocolates could set you back by up to £15. Last year? You were looking at around £9 to £11.50.

Mondelēz International, who own Cadbury, put the price increases down to the rising costs of ingredients like cocoa and dairy, as well as energy and transport.

Another five-star review reads, “These are so cheap for the amount you get. And are well worth buying. I get my box every year and enjoy them immensely.”

However, Tesco shoppers can also bag an 8-pack for £4.75 (59p per egg) if they own a Clubcard, or £5.50 (69p per egg) for non-Clubcard holders.
In response to customer backlash around the recent price hike, a spokesperson from Mondelēz International told LADbible: “We understand the economic pressures that consumers continue to face and raising prices is a last resort for our business. However, as a food producer, we are continuing to experience significantly higher input costs across our supply chain, with ingredients such as cocoa and dairy, which are widely used in our products, costing far more than they have done previously.
"Meanwhile, other costs like energy and transport also remain high. This means that our products continue to be much more expensive to make and while we have absorbed these costs where possible, we still face considerable challenges.
“As a result, we are having to make some carefully considered list price increases to our Cadbury Creme Eggs so that we can continue to provide consumers with the brands they love, without compromising on the great taste and quality they expect.”
