Woman who has only eaten meat, eggs and butter for years shares her daily 5,000 calorie diet

Rachel Ashby's carnivore diet largely consists of meat, dairy and eggs

A woman who has been following a carnivore diet for years has shared the 5,000 calorie meals she eats every day.

Rachel Ashby, 41, says she lost four stone and 'regained her health' after opting for a diet of meat, dairy and eggs, explaining her daily calorie intake is around 5,000 cals.

Rachel revealed that after spending years struggling to shed the pounds, she came across a video from Dr Shawn Baker, who claims such a diet can 'reverse' chronic, autoimmune, and mental illnesses.

Curious about his claims, Rachel made the switch and now chomps on steak, butter and eggs several times a day.

Starting with breakfast, the mum eats 10 eggs alongside a 'chunk of butter and salt', which is followed by a lunch of chicken wings and finally two or three rib-eye steaks for dinner.

"I literally eat fat for taste, so when fat stops tasting good, that’s when I stop eating it, because that’s when my body’s had enough." she said.

Rachel also explained that three of her four children also dip in and out of the carnivore diet, adding: "They just kind of sometimes decide by themselves to do it, and then other times they decide to not do it.

"But they always say that their health increases when they do do it."

Rachel explains that she never feels hungry on the diet, either.

Taking to TikTok to show her progress, she said in the video's description: "I lost four stone and regained my health by eating fatty meat when I’m hungry until I’m full following the carnivore diet.

"I did not fast, I did not restrict, I just ate when hungry until I was absolutely full.

"My five meals I ate on repeat were: Eggs and salt (butter when I crave it); leg or shoulder of lamb, butter and salt; air fried and salted chicken wings; ribeyes [and] beef brisket, butter and salt."

Although Rachel is adamant that she's healthier on the diet, some experts have raised concerns.

Writing in Health, dietician Jillian Kubala said that low carb diets can benefit the health of certain people including those with Type 2 diabetes but warned there was 'limited evidence' about the benefits the carnivore diet could specifically bring.

The dietician wrote: "Diets low in produce have been consistently linked with an increased risk of several diseases, including cancer and heart disease, as well as overall mortality risk."

Kubala also warned of the risks of eating lots of red and processed meats, which health experts have long warned is linked to a higher cancer risk.

She said an increased risk of 'colorectal cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, and heart disease' has been linked to a diet crammed full of red and processed meats.
