Carnival Cruise Line has made an announcement, stating they're going to ban passengers if they keep trying out this one common trick.
When you look at the current cost of cruises, as well as the state of the economy and cost-of-living crisis, it's understandable that some people are trying save as much money as they can.
Whether that be finding tips to get the cheapest drinks packages or following online guides to get discounts on their tickets, many cruise-goers try to make it as cheap of an experience as they can.

One particular trick which is very common, however, could be leading to people getting banned.
Carnival Cruise’s Brand Ambassador and Senior Cruise Director, John Heald, made the announcement on a video on his Facebook, in which he said that people smuggling drinks on board could be facing bans.
He said: “We have known for years that you can go on Amazon and get things that you can get things to smuggle booze in. Whether it be hair brushes, umbrellas, lady's things… we know about it, we catch people, don’t do it.”
He then suggested it ‘annoyed’ him when cruise passengers would show off on social media how they snuck alcohol onto the ships, claiming they had people who monitor videos online to catch those posting about it.

Heald claimed that when this happens they ‘go to their cabin’ and they ‘cannot cruise with [Carnival Cruises] anymore’.
He went on to finally add: “Don’t smuggle, we find it. I know why people do it I get that but don’t do it.”
This shocked those watching who claimed that it was unreasonable due to the prices of drinks on the ships.
One comment read: “Make the drink package price more reasonable and flexible. That will help cut down the smuggling. It is ridiculous how much the package is and there is only one option. Then you put a 15 drink limit. It's absurd.”

Another comment on Heald’s video, however, said: “I am glad Carnival is banning smugglers even though I do not like to see anyone get banned.”
The news was also posted to Cruise Ship News, with comments largely being against the bans.
One read: “Carnival has raised the drink prices and Drink Package so high, of course people are trying to save money by bringing their own onboard. I am Platinum on Carnival, but my last 2 cruises have been with another cruise line and enjoying it more.”
Drinks packages whilst on board Carnival rose late last year to $70 (£53) per person per day, which added up over a long cruise can reach astronomical heights.
If you'd thought about smuggling some vodka in your socks to combat this, however, and especially if you were planning to post it on social media, maybe think again.
