Aussie man shares 'culture shock' of moving to the UK

The UK is certainly a very unique place - and not always in a good way.

It's no secret that there are a lot of things that make the UK unique - take Spoons, Bingley Mega Chippy, Coronation Street and more.

So it's perhaps no surprise that one Australian lad was left so shocked by the differences between the UK and down under that he took to TikTok to share his absolute confusion.

The TikTok user, who posted under the handle @murphtox, began by explaining that he only moved to the UK two weeks ago, but that time has been enough to leave him totally baffled.

"So if anyone has answers, that would be great," he admitted.

He then began by saying that he's noticed there's 'a lot of rubbish around' 'like are people littering here or is the wind blowing it or does the trash not get taken enough?'.

The TikToker explained that he simply couldn't understand the litter as 'people wouldn't do that in Australia'.

His second observation about the UK is that 'everywhere sells food' including pharmacies like Boots, and this is apparently not a thing in Australia.

"The Brits love a meal deal here," he concluded. "You just wouldn't find sushi or sandwiches in a pharmacy in Australia."

His last point he admitted was a 'bit personal', but he wondered why there is no vanilla Coke in the UK.

"There's lime, orange, cherry," he said. "Like I just want my vanilla Coke."

He captioned the video: "Bit of a culture shock ya'know."

As you can imagine, his observations went far from unnoticed on the app, and since the video was posted on 26 January, it has been viewed over 600K times.

He couldn't get over the prevalence of meal deals.

Reacting to the viral video, one viewer remarked: "Aldi for Vanilla Coke!"

A second questioned why he'd even moved here in the first place, writing: "I never understand why people move from Australia to the UK, makes me sad."

"When I visited Australia on holiday I'm pretty sure I said 'it's so clean here' about 5 times a day," shared a third.

"Thing to remember about the UK is that we've lost our way," shared a fourth. "We throw rubbish from cars. We love junk food except vanilla Coke."

"The rubbish is standard. People generally don't care. They throw it and lots of people wouldn't think to pick it either," wrote a fifth, while a sixth added: "Omg vanilla Coke I loved that, yeah don't really get that here."

Now, I don't know about you, but the rubbish observation makes me ashamed to be British, the meal deals makes me proud, and I'm not sure where I stand with vanilla Coke as I've not had it in years.
