Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Games have just released gameplay footage of the new Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy, and it looks unreal.
The 15-minute trailer has dropped on social media and shows everything from magical beasts, craft potions and ancient spells, making it the perfect way to embark on the wizarding world.
It's an open-world video game but with all the hallmarks of J.K. Rowling's magical universe.

So imagine it's like Grand Theft Auto but with spells, witches and wizards.
Hogwarts Legacy will be set in a pre-Harry Potter era in the 1700s and follows a fifth-year student at the British wizarding school.
You'll get to customise every physical aspect of your character, including their voice, body type and wand type.

Then you will be assorted into one of the four iconic houses of Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Gryffindor.
You'll get to explore different locations around the legendary wizarding school, including the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.
The gamer can attend classes to learn a range of subjects, including potions, charms, herbology and magical beasts.
These acquired skills will also help you outside the classroom; for example, potions can brew different spells, and herbology can plant magical flora used in various combat ways.

“We promised to share more this year, and we’re finally ready to deliver on that promise.”
He added: “This is an incredible moment that we’ve been building towards for a long time. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.”

Hogwarts Legacy narrative director Moira Aquier said: “The attention to detail and the passion and the love for this brand that the team has is astonishing.
“Fans of the series will know that ancient magic has been around for a long time to say the least and that Hogwarts itself is a stronghold of ancient magic. And the avatar, the player, has the ability to sense it and possibly wield it or control it.”
There’s no official release date yet; however, Avalanche Software confirmed the game will drop around Christmas this year and will be available for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
