As the back-to-work scaries loom, the Christmas chocolates dry out and the ‘inspiring’ goal-setting posts spam your Instagram, you might be on your second day of ‘quitting’.
And you might already be thinking of giving up that goal.
Perhaps you’ve stopped drinking for Dry January or you’ve decided it’s finally time to quit the vape.
Or maybe you actually took up vaping after packing in smoking on another ‘big quit’.

But plenty of Brits have decided to ditch the bars for the positive changes that come after and ahead of a crackdown set to take place in the UK.
Whatever your reason is for quitting, I hate to break it to you but it might not be so easy-breezy, just like this ex vape addict found.
So, to give you a hand, an expert has warned which foods you should avoid in those key quitting days.
There’s certain snacks and dishes that’ll up your cravings for nicotine and therefore might causing you to be reaching for the vape you said you’d thrown away.

An expert from gosmokefree.co.uk told the Mirror that there’s five key foods to keep away from – including the more fiery stuff and the sweeter snacks.
They said: “It's key to be aware of your diet, as spicy and sugary foods can trigger nicotine. Furthermore, if you opt for excessively sugary foods when quitting smoking, you run the risk of forming a sugar addiction as a replacement for nicotine.”
And if you were hoping a nice Full English would take the no-vape blow away, it’s bad news.

The expert continued: “Fried foods should also be avoided, as they can contribute to excess torso fat and add pressure to the diaphragm.
"For anyone in the process of quitting smoking, this increased pressure can exacerbate breathing difficulties and make the journey more challenging.”
You don’t want anything to salty either as they warned: “An overconsumption of salt can result in water retention in the body, creating additional weight around the diaphragm. This also causes extra pressure that can restrict breathing and make sticking to your goals harder."

Oh, and it’s not just food either, there’s a drink to avoid too.
Even worse for some of us absolute caffeine addicts - it’s coffee.
The expert advises that the drink acts ‘as a trigger’ for getting on the nicotine-filled vape.
“The pairing of coffee and cigarettes often becomes a habitual and reinforcing routine, strengthening the association between the two, making it challenging for those trying to quit smoking,” they said.

So, whether you’re giving up cigarettes or vapes, try and keep away from excess salty, sugary snacks, spicy and fried foods.
Good luck lads.
