A British tourist in Australia has sparked a heated debate online after asking if you stand on the grids at urinals.
A user posted a question to the Australian Reddit page about the state of Aussie men's bathrooms.
He wrote: "Guy from UK here. I’ve been in Australia for about two weeks and have noticed these grids on the urinals in every restroom. Do I stand on them or pi** on them I’m confused??"

Well, the question elicited a divisive debate in the comment section.
One user advised: "Definitely for standing on, and you aim to p*** on the wall like how you pour a beer on the side of the glass. Then the grate is there for the last couple of dribbles that inevitably fall downwards near your feet."

I mean, that analogy was charming...
Another warned: "I always used to stand on them until I stood on one that was broken one day and almost went face-first into the p***er."
A third said: "You don't stand on them. Pee against the wall; the grids are there to collect the drips.
"I mean, you can stand on them if want to, it mostly depends on your.........skills."

However, one user said that you could make your own rules if you're the first in the loo - think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure.
"Honestly, if you're first in the bathroom, you get to decide. Everyone else will follow," they wrote.
They added: "If there's someone p***ing already. Then they set the standard. But to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing borders on psychopathic."

Don't be a dog amongst sheep!
But many Reddit users admitted that despite being born and bred Down Under, they still didn't know the answer.
One person revealed: "I don’t think anyone knows. There are rational justifications for both options."
Another said: "Yeah, I came here hoping to find the answer. I guess I'm not alone."

While another heated user posted: "It's cause nobody knows the true answer. Pretty sure the blokes that install them don't even know. Grate or no grate, you still get splash, and you are still standing on p***."
Look, as long as you're not napping on the grate, you're good to go.
