Jason Manford has claimed homework ‘trains’ kids to think in a certain way, and is calling on the government to ban it.
A homework ban is something we could all get on board with once upon a time, but 42-year-old comedian Jason might be taking that to the next level…
He ended up in a fiery debate on X, claiming he would be a ‘hero, nay a God’ if anything came of his idea.

The presenter even compared himself to Marcus Rashford, who has famously campaigned for free school meals for all children.
In his post, he wrote: “I thought it as a kid and now I think it as an adult: homework is bulls***!
"It trains you to think that your time at home doesn’t belong to you either, that there’s always something to do, that you can’t do enough in the day no matter how hard you work! Who’s with me?

"What d'ya reckon? Shall we start one of those government petitions?
"I could be like Marcus Rashford but instead of getting kids free school dinners I just got rid of homework!
"My goodness, I’d be a hero to future generations! Nay, a God!”
But the idea wasn’t as popular as you would first think, with people stating that homework teaches kids ‘graft’.

He even got a few names hurled at him when a spat broke out.
One fan said: “Suppose your kids will inherit your fortune.
“Other kids do homework to get an edge in the non celebratory children job market."
Another agreed, saying: “Spoken like someone who made enough money not to worry about having an education and who feels entitled to diss those who aspire to better themselves by their own efforts.

“A classic champagne socialist."
It was clear that the claims that Jason was privileged enough not do homework got him riled up, as he angrily responded: “Oh do f*** off!
“So bored of c**** like you."

Another person joined in, saying: “He's right though Manford you pompous p****.
“Kids need to work, need to understand graft.
"You got lucky because you have talent.
“So you don't make your kids do homework that's your call but calling people a c*** on socials because.......well he's right."
Ouch.
Surprisingly, some teachers came to Jason’s rescue, claiming that extra work after school is just ‘unnecessary’.
One said: “I am a teacher who agrees with you.
“So much homework is just busy work which has no function other than complying with the system.
“It’s unnecessary pressure for families.
“Once you have exams there will be a need to revise and perhaps complete course work but not before that."
Despite the back and forth, a huge 86.1 per cent of people who answered Manford's poll agreed with his cause, with 13.9 per cent all for making their kids do extra work after school.
