Chris Hughes slammed over 'creepy' comment he made to JoJo Siwa on CBB before being shut down

The Dance Moms star wasn't wanting to 'lady and the tramp' the Love Islander

Chris Hughes has been slammed by some viewers over a ‘creepy’ comment he made to JoJo Siwa on Celebrity Big Brother.

The pair quickly became an iconic duo in the house this series, with the Love Island star being there to support the American singer after Mickey Rourke’s homophobic comments.

They’ve already been in trouble with Big Brother for ‘secretly’ communicating and for deciding to go for a quick wee in a litter tray while dressed as cats.

It does seem like an unlikely pairing that Hughes and the Dance Moms alum would become besties, but they’ve been getting pretty close on the series.

And there’s been a bit of controversy following his particular comment to her before he was shut down in a recent scene on Celebrity Big Brother.

Pretty much joined at the hip, the pair are often snuggling and chilling together, not afraid of physical touch in their friendship.

But in a step up from that, Hughes suggested he would kiss Siwa.

The performer was laying in bed with her arms behind her bed as she asked her bestie if he’d ‘like tinned spaghetti’ for dinner.

“Yeah, like Lady and the Tramp?” he asked as she jokingly shut him down: “No, but we can have some together.”

And Hughes said: “Of course we can, my darling.”

The 32-year-old was then putting lip balm on his lips as he leaned in to put some on the 21-year-old who had her eyes closed.

“It’s my finger, don’t worry,” he assured her. “Would I ever?”

But the ‘Karma’ singer gave him a ‘yeah’ as she laughed at the idea of him kissing her as he admitted: “Probably would actually, yeah.”

And Siwa, who is happily in a relationship with Kath Ebbs, said she ‘knows’ before cracking up laughing as she said: “Sucks to be you.”

But some users on social media found the moment to be ‘creepy’ as they said it’s ‘bizarre behaviour’.

"Genuinely can’t deal with seeing Chris and JoJo it’s such a creepy dynamic @bbuk less airtime please." someone said.

Meanwhile, some also wondered if it was Hughes’ attempt at ‘trying to crack America’ by bouncing off her stardom as others suggest he might be ‘playing a game’.

However, this whole notion from some viewers that the pair have been ‘flirting’ in the house has been slammed by many as Siwa is proudly gay and like plenty of people, capable of having platonic, tactile friendships.

“Jojo Siwa and Chris are clearly people who are just comfortable with physical touch in friendships, stop making it into a thing I beg,” one wrote.

Another suggested: “The way people are reacting to Chris and Jojo just proves men and women can’t have close friendships without people being weird about it.

"Chris is well aware Jojo is a lesbian and has a partner and I think insinuating he is trying to flirt with her is so weird sorry.”
