Wes Anderson has finally won his first ever Oscar

Wes Anderson has finally won his first ever Oscar

You probably thought he'd won one before now.

Wes Anderson has at long last won his first ever Oscar after his short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar picked up the Best Live Action Short award.

With a career as long and successful as Anderson's, it's hard to imagine that he hadn't won an Oscar until now, but this really is his first.

Over his long career Anderson has been nominated for a grand total of eight Oscars, with his first coming in 2001 for Best Original Screenplay for The Royal Tenenbaums.

He's had plenty of other nominations since then, but now he's scooped his Oscar at last.
