Jess Glynne has announced her comeback with an open letter on her Instagram page explaining the difficulties she's navigated over the last few years.
The Grammy-award winning singer had taken a career break and largely disappeared from the public eye but she's now declared that she's got new music to release after finding 'the best version of myself' and gaining new inspiration.
Glynne teased fans with a snippet of a new single she's got coming out and took the time to run through the issues she's been dealing with over the past few years.

The singer has faced some rocky times in recent years, including getting banned for life from the Isle of Wight festival in 2019 after cancelling her set with 10 minutes warning, though that ban was later revoked.
In 2020 she was denied entry to a restaurant and accused the place of 'pure discrimination' before saying that 'wasn't the right word' as she further explained the treatment she'd received.
A year later she was hit with backlash after using a transphobic slur on Mo Gilligan's podcast, with Glynne apologising by saying she was 'wholeheartedly sorry' and describing her language as 'unacceptable'.

Taking to Instagram to share her open letter, Glynne's fans said she was 'such a bright light' and thanked her for sharing her thoughts with them.
She wrote: "I want to reintroduce myself. It has been a while, a lot of time has passed and a lot has changed. In 2021 I lost a friend in a really tragic way and it has changed the way I see and feel life.
"I was deeply unhappy and I was so lost in my career and I felt trapped by people who didn’t believe in me during such a sensitive time. I made a decision to walk away from all that negativity and start again because I saw how short life is and how important it is to look after you.

"This was probably one of the toughest, scariest things I have ever done and at the time I had no idea how it would work out but I had to put my happiness and my mental health first no matter what.
"These past 3 years have been the most trialling on me emotionally and physically but I feel as though they have made me the best version of myself.
"I was out in LA alone pushing through and I was finally inspired by the journey I had been on and the path in front wasn’t so scary. I began writing again with new people."
The singer went on to pay tribute to her inspirations for her new music, with particular mention made towards Joni Mitchell.

Glynne had been with Atlantic Records but split from them in January 2022 and a couple of months later signed on with Jay-Z's entertainment agency Roc Nation, her upcoming single will be the first music she's produced for them.
"I started every day by listening to Joni Mitchell, occasionally Prince and sometimes Amy but I found myself obsessed with Joni once again." The singer continued, explaining the inspiration behind her new music.
"Every time I listened to her voice and her lyrics I felt like she was holding my hand. Her poetic way of writing and her powerful way of singing with such conviction really healed me. She encouraged me to be more vulnerable and honest.

"I believe that these are some of the best songs I have ever written and I have had some of the most beautiful and euphoric experiences with just me.
"I am so lucky to finally be surrounded by such excited, caring people who allow me to be my authentic self. I hope this album holds your hand and this side of me is the Jess I want you to get to know."
