But now, he has signed himself up for Nolan’s WWII flick Oppenheimer, which is costing a reported $100 million to make ahead of its release in July 2023.
According to Variety, Peck will feature as Kenneth Bainbridge, the real-life scientist involved in the Manhattan Project – the code name for the US research into and development of the nuclear weapons in the 1940s.
Alongside the former children’s TV star, Cillian Murphy is set to star as the titular character Robert Oppenheimer, who was the wartime head of the Los Alamos Laboratory and one of the people credited with creating the atomic bomb.
As per Variety, Murphy will be ‘surrounded by an ‘A-list ensemble, including Emily Blunt as biologist and botanist Kitty Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves Jr. and Robert Downey, Jr. as founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss’.
