Fans of Shadow and Bone are pleading with Netflix not to cancel it after it became the biggest show on the streaming platform. Here’s the trailer for the second series, in case you’re looking for something new to get into:
It’s a fantasy series based on the books of Leigh Bardugo, and it’s managed to get to the top of Netflix’s internal charts, dislodging perennial favourite You in the process.

Not that Penn Badgley and co will be too bothered about this, they’ve had a good run at the top of the charts.
Now, there’s a new number one on the ‘most watched’ chart, and it’s Shadow and Bone.
The second series was only released on 16 March, but fans have already binge-watched and can’t wait for there to be a third series.
Obviously, because it’s based on a series of books, fans are also aware that there’s plenty more stuff to work through.

The series tells the story of Alina Starkov, an orphaned map-maker in the First Army of the fictional Ravka nation.
She finds out that she’s got a number of special gifts, and is also the fulfilment of a prophecy about their universe.
As tends to be the case with stuff like this, we haven’t had an absolute decision yet on whether the show will continue, but so long as a show is doing well, people are watching and enjoying, and - crucially - it’s making money, you can pretty much bet that it’ll continue.

The campaign to keep the Shadow and Bone train rolling started on Twitter, with one fan writing: “I finished [Shadow and Bone season two] and just wow.
“Last episode was complete and total chaos they really threw every storyline in there but I’m soooo here for it.
“Plz plz @netflix renew @shadowandbone_ bc I NEED NEED more of this in my life.”
Another person made this conservative plea: “PLS PLS PLS RENEW SHADOW AND BONE I WILL DIE IF YOU DON'T NETFLIX PLS.”

OK, it’s not that serious.
That gives you a small idea of the strength of feeling that some viewers have about the programme, though.
“I need season 3 of Shadow and Bone so bad they better renew it,” another begged.

“Season 2 is INCREDIBLE AND I NEED @netflix to RENEW FOR SEASON THREE RIGHT THE F*** NOW,” demanded one of the show’s acolytes.
It remains to be seen whether Netflix will heed the calls of the fans and renew, but given that the series has been such a success so far, you wouldn’t back against it.
