Channel 5 has announced that a new drama titled ‘The Winter Child’ is set to come to TV’s around the UK soon. The platform has a history of creating great television series, so this one will be a must watch!
The Winter Child Plot:
The story follows Claudia, a lonely single mother and school nurse, longing for connection.

When a young child in her community, Emily Winter, goes missing, Claudia becomes embroiled in the case and fixated on uncovering the truth.
Her fascination quickly begins to consume her. She is now not only determined to find out what happened to Emily but has also become obsessed with the Winter family at the heart of the case - Emily’s devastated father Owen, her cold mother Sabine, and her 12-year-old brother, Dean.
The Winter Child Cast:
Taking the lead role of Claudia is Shirley Henderson, who is probably best known for her role in the Harry Potter movies as muggle-born witch ‘Moaning Myrtle’.

Shirley has an impressive film career, starring in movies such as ‘Trainspotting ', ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary', ‘24 Hour Party People’ and ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’, in which she voiced Babu Frik.
Joining Henderson in the new TV drama is Craig Parkinson, who plays well-natured English tutor George.
The actor has gripped British television screens throughout his career, the most obvious example being his role as ‘DI Matthew Dot Cottan’ in the hit show ‘Line Of Duty’.
The ensemble cast is made up of Ian Lloyd-Anderson and Lisa Dwyer Hogg who play Emily’s heartbroken parents, Owen and Sabine.

Sara Powell plays their neighbour Joanne alongside Ronan Leahy as her husband Dave. Luke Griffin plays Leon, Claudia’s estranged husband, while Myah Mason and Calum Jess play siblings Emily and Dean Winter.
When Is The Winter Child Coming Out?
Although there is no official release date as of yet, we know that the psychological thriller will be a four-parter and will come out on Channel 5 and My5 some time in 2022.
