Giving your mum the responsibility of filming your proposal always runs the risk of error.
Maybe she's trembling with excitement and ends up with shaky footage, or is sobbing uncontrollably in the background.
Or there's the possibility she could have had the camera the wrong way round and film herself instead, like this poor woman.

Her future daughter-in-law Jennifer shared a hilarious clip of the monumental blunder on her TikTok account, @__jennyy4.
During a family trip to Rome, the happy couple had been showing off their outfits at different landmarks around the city.

The adorable pair were taking part in the TikTok trend where people join hands in various locations to the beat of Frank Ocean's track Pink + White.
Jennifer's creative fiancé decided to surprise her with the proposal by getting down on one knee, while they filmed one of the snippets in front of an Italian fountain.
It's a clever plan - as she wouldn't have questioned why the camera was pointing at them both - but it's execution wasn't so seamless.
The bloke's mum seemed to have been in on it, as she was ready with her phone to capture the special moment.

But just as he grabbed Jennifer's hand and got down on one knee, the camera flips - and is pointed at his mum instead.
At least we got to see her natural reaction to the pair's wedding plans.
The mum is seen smiling as she watches her son pop the question, but then looks frantic seconds later as she realises her huge error.

She appeared to grow increasingly panicked as she tried to fumble with the device, only to have missed the crucial moment.
Luckily, her future daughter-in-law saw the funny side of it and captioned the clip: "She was trying her best!"
The hilarious mishap had social media users in stitches, although some admitted they would be furious if it happened to them.
One wrote: "All she had to do was hold the PHONE!"

A second said: "She had one job."
And another added: "I would be so mad."
But others quickly leapt to the mum's defence in the comments.
One said: " Everyone's saying their mad, I feel so bad for her. You can tell she was distressed when she realised it was on her face."
Another wrote: "Why would you guys be mad at this?
"She's so cute. The couple will tell the story in a few years and hopefully laugh."
A third added: "Aw, she was so nervous about her small mistake, tell her she's precious! Congratulations on your engagement."
And a fourth chimed in: "You can tell she got so worried, but it'll still be a beautiful memory with a funny story!"
Jennifer explained that luckily, her future father-in-law was also recording the proposal from another angle. Phew.
At least it's a reminder to have both parents - and maybe another third party - on standby to film your proposal.
